A useful Brevo signup form explains what subscribers will receive and checks that the journey works through confirmation. Decide on the newsletter promise, the necessary fields and the destination lists before placing a form across your website.

Table of Contents
Start with a clear newsletter promise
Illustrative example: a consultancy offers a monthly operations newsletter and optional workshop announcements. Give each choice an understandable label. Avoid a vague request to join the database: explain the topic and intended frequency, and only ask for information you will use.
Create the form and prepare the fields
In Marketing → Forms, open the sign-up tab, create a form and select Full page/embedded. Prepare contact attributes before adding custom fields, then choose the destination list at the Lists step. Brevo form creation guide.
Brevo supports custom attribute types including text, date, number, category and multiple-choice. Use a category when the answer should be one choice and multiple-choice when several answers are appropriate. Newly created custom attributes are not displayed on the contact details page by default. Check their visibility when validating the first submission. Custom contact attributes.
For this newsletter, an email address and optional interest choices are enough to start. A long questionnaire belongs elsewhere if it does not help fulfil the subscription. Our Brevo contact import guide covers existing records; importing a file is a separate workflow from collecting new subscriptions.
Use lists for the preferences you offer
The Multi-list subscription block connects each interest choice to a list. Add the block, select the lists and choose checkboxes or a multi-select dropdown. You can change the display labels without exposing your internal naming. At the Lists step, an additional master list can hold everyone who completes the journey, regardless of the interests selected. Multi-list setup.
For the consultancy, Monthly operations and Workshop announcements are separate choices. Write down which list each label should populate. During the rehearsal, select only one interest and inspect both the interest list and the master list. An unexpected extra subscription is a reason to fix the configuration before promoting the form.
Make confirmation part of the journey
With double opt-in, submission starts the process; the person joins the contact list after clicking the confirmation email. Brevo records form submission in event logs and email-related activity in transactional logs. Review both to trace the journey. The confirmation link expires after 30 days. Double opt-in and tracking.
Recommend double opt-in when you want an address confirmation before subscription. It helps document the journey, but a checkbox or confirmation email does not by itself establish that every aspect of your marketing complies with applicable law. Use wording that matches the newsletter promise and retain the relevant records.
Configure CAPTCHA for the actual form location
Brevo supports Google reCAPTCHA and Cloudflare Turnstile. Add the Captcha block at the Design step, choose its type and enter the corresponding site and secret keys. The approved domain depends on deployment: a hosted link or iframe uses sibforms.com; an HTML embed uses the website domain where the form appears. CAPTCHA configuration.
If the form moves from a hosted page to an HTML embed, recheck the domain configuration. A form working in one location does not prove that another location is configured correctly. Keep secret keys inside the appropriate configuration fields, rather than copying them into editorial notes or public instructions.
Brevo recommends combining protection methods. Its spam guidance warns that an unprotected form experiencing a bot attack can cause account suspension; adding a CAPTCHA and contacting support are part of its recovery instructions. Review unexpected submission bursts rather than treating them as audience growth. Bot and spam protection.
Choose an embed method you can maintain
For a website page, Brevo recommends iframe embedding; HTML offers more customization. Simple HTML omits features that need JavaScript, including CAPTCHA and the default confirmation, success and error handling. Save the final form with Done after the sharing step. Sharing and saving options.
If the form works in Brevo but fails on the site, check for outdated embed code, CAPTCHA configuration and account restrictions. Conflicting website CSS can distort HTML forms; an iframe can avoid that particular styling conflict. Brevo currently supports multiple forms on one page through iframe only. Form troubleshooting.
Rehearse the whole subscription
Use a spare address you control. On desktop and mobile, check the promise, field labels, chosen preferences and response after submission. With double opt-in, inspect the pending stage, open the confirmation message and follow its link. Confirm the resulting record and list memberships. Repeat with a different interest choice and record any mismatch before sharing the form widely.
If the confirmation email does not arrive, inspect the logs before repeatedly submitting the address. Our Brevo domain authentication guide explains the separate sender setup. Once the journey is reliable, judge the form by confirmed, relevant subscriptions rather than submission totals alone.
